Procedure isn't sexy, but it is the cornerstone of where fairness, and ultimately, equitable and inclusive practices live. Articulating how decisions are made, and ensuring that voices are heard are common pain points for managers. When you communicate which type of decisions will be made and how input will be used, team members will experience greater transparency and trust with leaders. In this workshop we'll teach you how to communicate key points on conducting meetings and in decision-making processes:
Reviewing four different types of decisions (Consensus, input, focus grouped/pressure test, informed-after decisions);
Fair process (engaging stakeholders, explaining decisions, clarity on expectations after a decision is made) and why it’s helpful;
How to put these concepts into action, using case studies (e.g., a new organizational policy, or creating a new position in the organization);
Articulating what a process looks like for engagement, explanation and expectations
-

Why It Works
We follow the science on how adults learn, retain and apply knowledge best.
Just-in-time learning. The best time to learn a skill is the moment you need it. You probably didn’t know how to pick a lock until until your toddler locked themself in the bathroom and you searched on YouTube for an tutorial. That’s just-in-time learning. The same principle applies when you need to build trust with a team or learn how to communicate with empathy. Both of which you’ll find in our program.
-
Give learners 60 minute segments, which can make learning a new topic more retainable, especially when combined with these other elements of learning in the flow of work.
-
Research shows this is a powerful way to make changes stick, using quick reminders to keep ideas top of mind, encouraging learners to make use of new knowledge in application.
-
Another research-proven element of learning, reflection gives participants dedicated time to think about how their new knowledge can be implemented in their work.
-
To know if your investment in learning is giving you desired returns you need to measure growth, including pre- and post-learning quizzes, behavior changes and more, using the metrics that identify effectiveness.
-
People learn best when they’re able to connect with new knowledge to use. Just because we set up a training for three hours on a Tuesday doesn’t mean we have the need or capacity to connect right then.
-
Workshops aimed at providing information on harassment for the sole purpose of avoiding liability do not change behavior for the better, and instead, can make it worse. Our content focuses on what works - empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills to make lasting behavioral changes as part of a wider shift in org culture.

Every Līve+ Course has three parts.
The first is web-based, anytime learning for you to get familiar with a DEIA topic, learn the background and basics, and get you thinking about key ideas to develop your skills. For instance, in our Respect in the Workplace course, you'll learn what harmful behaviors to avoid at work, and how to speak up when someone behaves harmfully in the workplace (that's bystander intervention).
In the second part of the course, you'll join other learners in a live, 60-minute session to discuss hypotheticals and practice these new skills. For instance, if we're talking about bystander intervention, you'll practice responses you might want to use in the workplace.
The third part includes brief reminders about key ideas you have learned already, and questions about how to apply these in real life situations, along with discussions that keep skills-building alive over time.
Because we release a new course every few months, you can always be engaged in professional development skills-building, whether in new courses, or reviewing a course you have already taken, to keep the learning fresh.
